Finding a new fandom is a great experience... it's like stumbling into an (online) room of people who like all the same stuff you do, and will also talk happily about it for ages and understand why you get #allthefeels about fan theories.
Seriously. Ya'll just need to go and watch it. NOW.
I FREAKING LOVE THIS SHOW... It's got strong feminine AND feminist characters, plenty of funny quips and humor, the perfect amount of sci-fi goodness, bright colors (as opposed to a lot of dreary + gritty looking superhero shows), and relationships that made me cry.
I was literally bawling at the Season 2 finale and I had NO ONE to talk to about it! So you all need to get onto remedying this pronto.
As a bonus there are some awesome crossover eps with The Flash, Arrow, and Legends of Tomorrow.
2. MAGIC EX LIBRIS
I recently re-read it this series, and loved it just as much as the first time. It's by author Jim C. Hines, and I think it's one of the most underrated YA fantasy book series' of all time. It should be as popular as Harry Potter or the Hunger Games.
It's an urban fantasy (set in our modern world) about a secret society of people who use magic called libromancy to PULL ITEMS OUT OF BOOKS.
There's a host of amazing characters to support the phenomenal concept. It's a must read for book nerds... there are heaps of "in jokes" for reading addicts.
3. STAR GATE
Finding another Star Gate fan is like striking gold... To be fair, it's a fairly old show now, and the spin-off series after the original SG1 were not fantastic.
BUT my husband and I recently watched all of SG1, and I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. Star Trek fans are a dime a dozen, and I think Star Gate kinda fell off the radar.
The characters are awesome and grow in realistic ways, the enemies they face become increasingly terrifying (the replicators? *shudder*), and the underlying humor mixed with action and thoughtful plots makes for great entertainment.
